Lions News: ‘Price is Right’ contestant wears awesome Lions shirt, thanks Dan Campbell (2024)

The Detroit Lions are officially part of the national culture now.

This week, on an episode of the game show “Price is Right,” a contestant named Darrell was sporting a pretty awesome Lions shirt. The Honolulu Blue t-shirt read “I LIKED THE LIONS BEFORE IT WAS COOL.” Check it out:

Note: Please don’t click on the t-shirt spam links in the replies to this tweet. Those are very often scams.

The shirt perfectly captures what many of us are feeling after our years of painful devotion to this team finally has paid off.

But Darrell wasn’t done being an awesome Lions fan on this day. When it was his turn to spin the big wheel for a shot at the Showcase Showdown, he made sure to make the most of his opportunity in front of the mic. When asked who he wanted to shout out, here’s what Darrell said:

“I want to say hi to Detroit, Dan Campbell, my wife, my kids, and everybody in Detroit. Hi, Dan Campbell! Let’s go Lions!”

That’s right. Both Detroit and Dan Campbell took priority over Darrell’s family.

As someone who has often prioritized the Lions over family, I salute you, Darrell. Never stop being you.

If you’re wondering how Darrell did on the show, he unfortunately lost his individual game, and despite spinning a $0.95 on the big wheel, he did not make the Showcase Showdown after someone spun for an even $1.00. He did win a jukebox with his winning bid, though. (source)

On a more local scale, this was also a pretty neat homage to the Lions. A South Lyon little league team was seen wearing some awesome Lions gear to their national baseball tournament:

The Lions fanbase has never been stronger, and I can’t wait to see how many people nationally jump on the bandwagon.

  • If you missed the news, Justin Rogers of the Detroit News has resigned from his post there, but he did make mention of “a new challenge” on the horizon. As someone who is a fan of Justin’s work and has been what I consider to be a close colleague of his, I’m bummed to see him go, but eager to see what’s next:

Well, cat is out the bag. I resigned my post a couple weeks back to pursue a new challenge. I remain with the News through the middle of next month and will share what's next for me at that time. Appreciate y'all. https://t.co/C2zkvBwUix

  • This week, there was a celebrity scramble ahead of the Rocket Class golf tournament. Aidan Hutchinson was a participant. Here’s him speaking with local WXYZ sports reporter Jeanna Trotman:

This was Aidan Hutchinson’s first year in the celebrity scramble at the @RocketClassic.

Lions legend Calvin Johnson was there, too.
