Math Teacher prior to joining the army. I scored a 98 on the ASVAB. Last assignment was a recruiting company commander for the US Army. Current owner of ASVAB tutoring business called Academic Strong LLC. I have spent the last 2 years putting people in the Army. I have seen many good applicants come in to join and fall only a little short of the ASVAB score needed. As a prior Math teacher I know what it takes to get you the score you need to join.

I started working at JCPS as a substitute teacher in 2000 at a high-at-risk high school. I then becamse an Instructional Assistant III and was accepted into an accelerated program with JCPS and Ky. State University to complete the program in two years for my certification. I have taught at an at risk middle school for two years, and high school for the past six. I have also tutored for the SOAR after school program for the past seven years but with the cuts last year, the after school NCLB organization I worked for closed. THerefore, I am open for scheduling my own clients. I can provide many refereences of students parents that I tutored for more than one years consequtvely by request. My comments on tutoring Algebra I : I went as high as calculus 3 in college.

I taught high school for 28 years. While teaching, I taught typing, recordkeeping, accounting, general business and a few math and English classes. I taught at Thomas Jefferson H.S. for 6 years in Louisville and then taught 22 years in Houston, TX I have worked at HR Block as a tax preparer for 12 years.

To begin with ,my interest in tutoring started after I volunteer to work for Americorps. I helped students in reading and writing. During my assignment with Americorps,I had the opportunity in acquiring skills which has helped me in tutoring. I was assigned to work as a summer associate instructor for reading and mathematics. I participated in literacy program in which I assisted children who had trouble in reading and writing. After Americorps,I decided to pursue career in educational setting in which I worked as an instructional assistant at the ESL office.
