South Los Angeles, CA (May 3, 2024) – A tragic fire crash on the I-105 Freeway claimed at least one life late Thursday night, May 2. The incident unfolded in the Athens area when a Prius stalled in the HOV lane, west of Vermont Ave, around 10:44 p.m. Subsequently, another vehicle collided with the stationary Prius, causing it to ignite. One individual was declared deceased at the scene. Further details on other potential injuries remain unclear. The crash prompted a SigAlert, with all westbound lanes closed until further notice. Authorities are actively investigating the fiery collision and will provide further information as soon as it becomes available.
