Accidents: March 25: A Hendrickson Ave. caller reported a vehicle off the road; A White Oak Twp. caller reported a non-injury accident;

March 26: A Henrietta Twp. caller reported a vehicle off the road, which became stuck while driver was trying to turn around, and law enforcement found the vehicle wasn’t a road hazard, and the driver refused a tow, saying he was contacting someone to pull him out; The driver of a vehicle in the ditch in Henrietta Twp. requested a tow, but they were unable to pay for a tow and were given a courtesy ride to Park Rapids; A vehicle off the road was reported in Helga Twp.; a vehicle off the road was reported in Clover Twp.; A non-injury accident was reported in Helga Twp.; A vehicle off the road was reported at the Becker County line, where driver said they had contacted a tow company that was going to pull their undamaged vehicle out of the ditch; A vehicle off the road was reported in Farden Twp.; A vehicle off the road was reported in Todd Twp. but law enforcement was unable to locate it;

March 27: Law enforcement found a vehicle off the roadway due to icy road conditions while a passerby was trying to help pull it out, and deputy advised them to stop the attempt and call a private tow;

March 29: An open-line 911 call came from an Apple watch in Guthrie Twp., where it turned out a vehicle had jumped County 118 and struck trees off the roadway; A semi was involved in an injury accident on U.S. Hwy. 71 between Lake George and Hendrickson townships; A report of a non-injury accident in Laporte was canceled;

March 30: A non-injury accident was reported in Farden Twp.

Animal Related: March 16: A vehicle hit a deer in Lake Emma Twp., without injury to the driver, but severe front-end damage rendered the vehicle inoperable and dispatch called for a tow, and law enforcement removed debris from the roadway, documented the scene and gave the driver a ride home in Park Rapids;

March 18: A Nevis caller reported a deer hit by a vehicle, which law enforcement removed from the roadway;

March 21: A Lake Hattie Twp. caller reported several dogs attacking and killing chickens and turkeys, leading to the dogs’ owners being cited under the county animal ordinance;

March 22: A Helga Twp. caller reported an animal complaint; A Hubbard caller reported an animal complaint;

March 23: A Lake George caller reported an animal complaint;

March 25: An Arago Twp. caller reported a group of cows on the roadway, and law enforcement found the owner trying to get the cows back;

March 27: A Lake Alice Twp. caller reported a dog that ran away;

March 28: Law enforcement came across a vehicle vs. deer accident and dispatched the injured deer, while the vehicle’s driver said she was calling for a private tow; A Crow Wing Lake Twp. caller reported a deer call;

March 30: A deer call was reported in Akeley;

March 31: A deer call was reported in Rockwood Twp.; A Hubbard caller complained about a neighbor’s dogs coming onto his property, while the dog’s owner claimed the caller may have baited his dogs.

Assaults/Harassment: March 16: A Farden Twp. caller reported a verbal domestic issue, then a female called to cancel, and arriving law enforcement found the residents apparently vacant and spoke with neighbors who were unfamiliar with the named parties and had not heard any disturbances; Law enforcement responded to a verbal dispute reported at the Nevis laundromat, where a couple was having an argument and the wife wanted the husband to get out of her car, and upon determining there was no physical altercation or threats of bodily harm, law enforcement gave the husband a ride home and the wife said she was going to a hotel; A dispute was reported in Laporte; Law enforcement responded to a medical report of shortness of breath at a Farden Twp. residence where the patient was allegedly assaulted earlier in the day, but the patient said she was not assaulted and denied needing medical aid;

March 17: An adult was arrested during a domestic call in Farden Twp.;

March 18: A Nevis caller reported threats;

March 19: A Hubbard caller reported a domestic issue;

March 21: A Laporte caller reported a physical domestic assault, but it was later found to be a verbal altercation only;

March 22: A report of an assault in Hart Lake Twp. led to an adult arrest;

March 23: A Laporte caller reported harassment, which law enforcement found to be a family issue between brothers and advised them to obtain a harassment restraining order; A Straight River Twp. caller reported a domestic issue; A Hubbard Twp. caller requested advice from a deputy in case of harassment by a neighbor;

March 24: A Lake George caller reported threats; A deputy aided Park Rapids police with a disturbance at the hospital, where they found a juvenile patient tried to run away and was returned to their room;

March 25: A domestic incident was reported in Hendrickson Twp.; A report of a domestic issue in Arago Twp. led to an adult arrest;

March 28: A law enforcement lobby visitor reported receiving a phone call from an unknown male, warning the visitor to stop calling his girlfriend, but visitor didn’t know who they were, so law enforcement attempted without success to contact the caller and helped visitor block future calls from that number;

March 29: A Farden Twp. caller reported a disturbance, saying a vehicle and its female driver wouldn’t leave her property, but law enforcement followed up and found no vehicles parked in the area and no one answering the door of the home; Law enforcement patrolled the area for a suspect after an assault was reported in Park Rapids;

March 31: A male was arrested for domestic assault in Hendrickson Twp.; An assault was reported at the ARCC emergency shelter in Akeley.

Burglaries/Theft: March 16: An Akeley business reported a gas drive-off, and when contacted by law enforcement, the driver said she was distracted by a phone call and forgot to pay for her fuel, and she agreed to return to the gas station and pay immediately;

March 19: A Crow Wing Lake Twp. caller reported a Medicare scam call after only giving his phone number, and law enforcement referred caller to IC3.gov;

March 20: A Laporte caller reported items taken from a neighbor’s porch while they were moving out, and when law enforcement contacted the victim they said it was a mistake and the items would be returned;

March 21: A Helga Twp. caller reported theft; A Henrietta Twp. caller reported a scam call from a blocked number claiming to with from a local police department, asking for a donation, and caller gave him her credit card number, adding that he didn’t say what police department he was with, and caller immediately called her credit card company and canceled her card;

March 22: Law enforcement responded to an alarm in Farden Twp. and learned nobody was at home, with neighbors explaining the owners were gone for the winter and they were watching the home and they were responsible for the alarm going off, and they contacted the owner who talked them through resetting the alarm, which law enforcement followed up with a call to the homeowner; A Todd Twp. caller reported a Medicare scam, saying they did not give any personal information and had reported it to Medicare;

March 25: An Akeley caller reported a gas drive-off;

March 26: A Helga Twp. caller reported fraud; A Nevis caller reported three unintentional gas drive-offs by customers who had come inside the store and bought other items, and law enforcement was able to contact two of the drivers who said they would return to the store; A Nevis caller reported a scam letter for a parking violation in the Twin Cities area, saying she had not been to the Cities since the 1980s and the vehicle does not come back to her, and the letter told her to send a check to take care of the violation, but law enforcement advised her to ignore the letter;

March 28: The Benedict Outpost & Grill reported check fraud;

March 29: Law enforcement followed up on a scam report from Henrietta Twp.

Fires: March 23: A chimney fire was reported in Guthrie Twp., which was extinguished without damage to the house;

March 28: A Nevis caller reported a large brush fire, but no permit was required as there was sufficient snow cover around the fire, and the scene was cleared by Nevis Fire;

March 31: A structure fire was reported in Lake Emma Twp.

Medical: March 17: Ambulance personnel and law enforcement responded to 911 hang-up in White Oak Twp., which proved to be a medical call;

March 19: Law enforcement helped ambulance personnel load a patient in White Oak Twp.; A deputy stood by for officer safety as Park Rapids police investigated an ambulance call at the Holiday Station;

March 21: Law enforcement helped establish a landing zone for a male experiencing chest pain, who was transported to Sanford Bemidji;

March 22: An ambulance was requested in Hart Lake Twp.; An ambulance request at the Nevis muni was canceled; An ambulance was requested in Nevis Twp. for a male feeling dizzy; An ambulance was requested in Helga Twp.;

March 23: A medical emergency was reported in Farden Twp., with the victim being transported via private vehicle; An ambulance was requested in Todd Twp.;

March 27: Law enforcement helped ambulance personnel load a patient in Todd Twp.;

March 28: An ambulance was requested in Todd Twp. for a male possibly having a stroke, and ambulance personnel assessed the patient and observed no stroke symptoms;

March 29: An ambulance was requested in Todd Twp. for a male having back and rib pain after falling two days prior; An ambulance was requested in Straight River Twp. for an elderly male found on the floor after lying there for an unknown period of time;

March 31: An ambulance was requested in Lake Emma Twp.; An ambulance was requested in Fern Twp.; Law enforcement helped ambulance personnel load a patient in Nevis Twp.

Miscellaneous: March 16: A Clay Twp. caller reported a red pickup parked at the gate to Deep Lake Park, where law enforcement found the gate locked and nothing suspicious;

March 18: Law enforcement responded to a noise complaint in Clover Twp. but were unable to locate the origin of the noise;

March 19: A suspicious person was reported in Hart Lake Twp.; Law enforcement helped ambulance personnel load a patient in Lake Emma Twp.;

March 22: A Nevis caller reported a suspicious vehicle sitting outside the bank, and upon contacting the driver, law enforcement determined everything was fine;

March 23: A Todd Twp. caller reported a suspicious vehicle; An Akeley caller reported a suspicious person walking, possibly messing with things, but law enforcement could not find the person;

March 24: A Park Rapids caller reported a suspicious person; A Straight River Twp. caller reported a suspicious person;

March 25: Law enforcement found a damaged guardrail on State Hwy. 64 in Thorpe Twp. but were unable to find evidence of the cause;

March 26: A Henrietta Twp. caller reported a suspicious vehicle, and law enforcement found the driver was waiting for roads to be plowed before driving home; A 911 misdial came from White Oak Twp.;

March 27: A Park Rapids caller reported a suspicious vehicle that was gone when law enforcement arrived, and the building of concern was found to be secure;

March 28: Law enforcement checked out a suspicious male who was walking in Park Rapids, who said he was walking to a friend’s house; A wallet was found in Lake George Twp. and returned to its owner; A Hubbard Twp. caller reported an Audi abandoned for two days at a storage facility, and when contacted, the owner said it was having transmission issues and was disabled but would be removed the next day; A 911 hang-up came from a Park Rapids number where, upon callback, a female said everything was OK;

March 29: A Todd Twp. caller reported finding property; Personnel followed up on a 911 hang-up in Nevis Twp., which appeared to be due to a 2-year-old accidentally dialing; Law enforcement helped ambulance personnel load a female patient in Henrietta Twp.;

March 30: A Farden Twp. caller reported a car parked at the end of a cabin’s driveway, but law enforcement found the car’s owner doing some work at the cabin;

March 31: A Hendrickson Twp. caller reported a van pulled into her property at 1:30 a.m. but did not approach her house, rather backed out and left.

Traffic: March 16: An adult was arrested for drug DWI in Farden Twp.; An adult was arrested for drug DWI in Park Rapids; A Guthrie Twp. caller reported a vehicle speeding, but law enforcement was unable to find the vehicle;

March 17: An adult female was arrested for fourth-degree DWI in Straight River Twp.; Law enforcement checked on a vehicle found parked and running on a forest road in Thorpe Twp., where the driver said everything was OK and he didn’t need help; An adult was arrested for drug DWI in Akeley; An ATV operator was warned in Arago Twp. for failing to drive on the right side of the road; Law enforcement checked on vehicle occupants having vehicle issues in Straight River Twp., but they said no assistance was needed; A traffic stop in Park Rapids led to an adult male being arrested for drug DWI and other charges; An adult male was arrested for DWI in Henrietta Twp.

March 18: A vehicle was stopped in Badoura Twp. due to the registered owner’s license being revoked, but the owner was not driving; A male in Todd Twp. requested a ride into town; A Farden Twp. caller reported a vehicle speeding, but law enforcement was unable to locate it; A drug-related incident was reported at the Hubbard County Jail;

March 21: Law enforcement checked on a vehicle on the side of the road, but the motorist did not need assistance; A U.S. Hwy. 71 caller complained of an SUV driving erratically, and Park Rapids police made contact with the driver; A Park Rapids caller reported a semi driving with its trailer doors open, and police contacted the driver; During a Farden Twp. traffic stop an adult male was arrested for controlled substance DWI; During a Park Rapids traffic stop law enforcement conducted field sobriety tests, which determined the driver was not impaired;

March 22: A caller reported a driving complaint at the Beltrami County line; A Lake George caller had questions about operating Class 2 ATVs; A driving complaint was reported in Henrietta Twp.; A U.S. Hwy. 71 caller reported a driving complaint, but law enforcement was unable to locate the vehicle;

March 23: A driving complaint in Akeley led to an adult arrest; An Akeley Twp. caller reported a driving complaint; A Nevis Twp. caller reported a driving complaint;

March 25: A Hendrickson Twp. caller reported a semi stalled on the roadway, but law enforcement was unable to locate it; Law enforcement came across a line of vehicles backed up on County 4 in Henrietta Twp. and found they had stopped for a semi attempting to back into a driveway;

March 29: A vehicle was reported driving unsafely in the Akeley area; A driving complaint was reported in Steamboat River Twp.;

March 30: An adult male was arrested in Guthrie Twp. for DWI, driving after revocation and violating conditions of release; Law enforcement checked out a vehicle pulled onto the side of County 4 between Lake Emma and Clay townships, but the driver did not need assistance;

March 31: A report of drug DWI in Farden Twp. was canceled; Law enforcement offered motorist assist in Nevis Twp.; During a traffic stop in Park Rapids, law enforcement conducted field sobriety tests but the driver was found not to be impaired.
