Animal cafes are a global novelty, particularly in Japan, where customers can play with animals such as cats, dogs, rabbits, hedgehogs, penguins and capybaras. Closer inspection reveals rampant neglect and mistreatment in these cafes. Daily human interaction is stressful for animals.
