You can find me at the Supermetrics office every working day. Here's why: - The daily commute is more excercise than I would get if I worked from home- Working from home -> Less collaboration -> Fewer innovations -> Reduced productivity*- My shoebox sized apartment is not great workspace - Unlimited supply of carrots in the office 🥕 - Loads of craic; today we gave everyone Spanish nicknames (mine is 'Zanahoria') How is your Friday going? * Research from Microsoft:https://lnkd.in/ess3fUiQ

Telegram founder Pavel Durov was applauded when he didn't allow the Kremlim access to private information of Telegram users. But freedom of speech and privacy are only upheld as principles when it applies to other countries. Consider the mass arrests recently in the UK, the banning of X in Brazil, the EU's blackmail of Elon Musk, and the ''Twitter files'' which shows how much censorship is happening behind closed doors. If Durov's arrest isn't politically motivated, then I don't know what is. I wrote before (in Dutch) why governments shouldn't have a role in censoring online speech: https://lnkd.in/eDHVWQB7

And that’s a wrap! Many thanks to Supermetrics for the opportunity to take on a business development role for the BeNeLux region. Specials shoutout to the folks at the Dublin office, Lars Dijkman, and Patrik Pettersson. It’s been a great ride with loads of craic. Especially the constant ping pong noises at Pearse street made a lasting impression. 🏓 And thanks to all the clients who saw value in our offerings so I didn’t have to sleep under a bridge. 👍 Their use cases and day-to-day work was also a learning opportunity, as I was new in the marketing domain. Marketers are amazing professionals to work with because they are straightforward and will only carve out time from their busy schedule when they identify value.👌My next home is Singapore 🇸🇬 More updates 🔜

Only 200 years ago, more than 80% of the world lived in extreme poverty. Today, it is under 9%.Extreme poverty does not have any causes, as it's the natural state of the world. Wealth does have causes. Johan Norberg writes:''History teaches us that progress is not automatic. It only happened because people fought hard for it and for the system of liberty that made it possible.''Read more: https://lnkd.in/e2sNwkDY

Another climb with my dad Gerrit Wessels! This time, the Ararat mountain in Turkey (or 'Kurdistan', according to the locals). I wanted to use this opportunity to thank Norbert Nestory, our tour guide during our Kilimanjaro climb two years ago. Not all tour guides are the same. And we couldn't have had a better guide with Norbert. Norbert inspected the gear we brought with us, checked twice daily for altitude sickness, adjusted the pace of the walk to our abilities, knew a ton about the local flora and fauna, and genuinely cared about the climbers he had under his supervision. In addition, Norbert speaks English fluently. The contrast couldn't be bigger with the Ararat trip, where I was left behind near the mountain's peak during a snowstorm at 45 km/h wind speed. 😅 We all survived. But the experience shows how important it is to have an experienced guide. That's why I recommend Norbert Nestory if you want to have an unforgettable experience on Kilimanjaro.

''Throughout history, humanity has faced and overcome numerous challenges. The Industrial Revolution, for example, caused significant environmental damage, but it also set the stage for the technological advancements that would eventually lead to a cleaner environment and greener energy sources. By embracing innovation rather than retreating from progress, we can continue to improve our quality of life while addressing environmental concerns.''Source:https://lnkd.in/ewDHZ2f8One issue I have with the article is the following line: ''Developing nations, which are still striving to reach the levels of prosperity enjoyed in the West, rely heavily on energy to fuel their growth.''All countries (whether they are 'developed' or 'developing') rely on energy to fuel their prosperity. There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country.** Views expressed are entirely my own and do not necessarily represent any organisation I'm affiliated with **
